ABOUT

Welcome to Arrowhead Serpents!

Arrowhead Serpents is a family-owned business operated by myself (Aaron) and my wife (Melissa) from our dedicated, climate-controlled reptile room in Southeast Grand Rapids, Michigan. While balancing our full-time careers and raising our four sons, we pour our passion into this specialized hobby-turned-business. I handle the daily husbandry, while Melissa provides the vital moral support that keeps our operation running smoothly.

My fascination with reptiles began around 1997. At 19 years old, I dreamed of breeding and working with monitor lizards. However, as a college student living with my parents, I lacked the space to properly care for large carnivorous species. That dream took a backseat until 2002, when I married my beautiful wife and moved into our own home. With her support, the foundation for what Arrowhead Serpents is today finally began to take shape.

Throughout the early 2000s, while gaining valuable experience working in various pet shops, I kept a diverse collection of colubrids and boas—including Sinaloan Milksnakes, Brazilian Rainbow Boas, Dumeril’s Boas, Amazon Tree Boas, and several Boa constrictor subspecies.

Everything changed in 2005 when I purchased my very first Blood Python (Python brongersmai)—an animal I still care for today. I fell in love with the species instantly. By 2012, I downsized the rest of my collection to focus exclusively on keeping and breeding Blood Pythons. Working with these animals is a true honor. The time I spend with them brings a sense of fulfillment and connection that I cannot find anywhere else.

At Arrowhead Serpents, the health, safety, and well-being of our animals always come first. We are firm believers in ethical husbandry, and every pairing we make is carefully planned with clear purpose and intention.
